Delicious, delightful and divine are the best words to
describe The Whisper Lounge, located at The Grove Drive in
Los Angeles.
My colleague Ima Watkins and
I were immediately enchanted by the old
Hollywood style of the hottest
restaurant in town. The warm tones of mahogany wood and
subtle amber art deco lighting created an atmosphere of an old
Hollywood supper club and
speakeasy, nestled in its private place down the alley at the
Grove. They have managed to create a cozy yet open environment
as the picturesque patio, classic bar and dining area blend
together in a perfect fit.
We were joined by the
talented and charming Chef Robert Smith, who is the Executive
Chef of yet another Hollywood Hot Spot. Motivated by his love
of cooking, it was obvious that he is not only passionate
about his work, but committed to design the perfect experience
for each customer. He has created a classic menu of
appetizers, salads, steaks, chops, fish, meatloaf, lobster pot
pie and classically originated sandwiches.

palate, there is an all-California wine list and professional
bartenders to prepare classic cocktails and skillfully blend

Morgan Craft, manager of
The Whisper Lounge nestled himself into our high backed booth.
We related to him how comfortable we felt basking in the
ambiance at Whisper’s. The positive partnership between Morgan
and Chef Rob explains the tremendous success of their
business. It’s a perfect blend of the East and West Coast
creating the ultimate environment for great food and enjoyable
company. These two creative men understand the process for
making their guests feel at home. Judging from the ongoing hum
of happy patrons, they are truly successful.

Deciding what to order from the mouth watering menu was a
difficult task. Finally, we started with the Grilled
Artichoke, bathed in a herb vinaigrette flavor of
deliciousness. We then treated ourselves to the Grilled
Halibut with creamy lemon spinach and the Merlot Braised Lamb
Shank. We teased our tongues with the Signature sides of
sautéed wild mushrooms and garlic mashed potatoes. What dinner
would be complete without an Original Caesar Salad,
deliciously mixed with freshly made croutons? But
the most amazing part was Chef Rob's award winning bread
pudding with Bourbon Whisky sauce, lets just say it alone is
worth the trip to The Whisper Lounge.
This food reporter’s mouth is
still watering just thinking about the endless tastes of
perfection from my dining experience at The Whisper Lounge. If
you want to be in a happy place, where the food is excellent,
the staff uplifting and a warm and comfortable atmosphere
awaits you—then the Whisper Lounge is the place for you. |
